Running out of gas...

It was late and I was tired. Driving home after a long day, all I could think about was a quick shower and a warm bed.

I glanced down at my dashboard and groaned seeing that I was almost out of gas. Almost cursing my bad luck, I swung into the nearest gas station, continuing to grumble about how I would have to take 10 minutes to fill up. 

As I waited for the pump to push gas into my truck I looked around the brightly lit station area and saw a young woman very frantically pacing around her car. Living in the detached world that we do, I almost didn't recognize her as the lady that lived right next door to me. 

I approached her and found out her car wouldn't start and she wasn't able to get in touch with her boyfriend. She was frightened and confused. I popped her hood and began to check over her car. In the meantime she was able to get a call through to her boyfriend who started driving to where we were. I stayed with her until he arrived and then we pushed the car to a parking spot for a tow truck to pick it up. 

It took about 40 minutes of my time, but when I got back into my truck again, now filled with gas and ready to go, I wasn't tired. I drove home and sat up for a little while thinking about how sometimes our greatest "inconveniences" are used to help others. 

I smiled...and I believe she was too.
